Swiss Robotics Day

On November 1st, CynLr participated in Swiss Robotics Day, an event initiated by the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Robotics – a flagship project with EPFL as the leading house and ETH Zurich as the co-leading house.

CynLr had the opportunity to demonstrate the underappreciated nuances of handling objects with two hands. A seemingly simple task, like pressing a cap onto a pen and closing it, involves many dynamics that robots today can't replicate. For instance, applying just the right amount of force without damaging the pen, sensing the counteraction of the other hand through the object, and synchronizing movements in response—all these actions, which feel intuitive to humans, are complex.
Such nuanced actions are hidden in almost every task we perform with our hands and require vision to enable these interactions. These discussions were well received by the community, with engineers showing enthusiasm for working on these challenges. CynLr plans to engage with these interests over the next two quarters.
